Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the first 1001 thread of the KOBOLDS forum... 1001 Campaign Hooks!
1. Pirates of the Astral Sea
PCs are raiders on the great sea in between the planes, preying off of astral caravans, githyanki settlements, and outlying settlements on neighboring planes for sustenance. Best for hack-and-slashers, but the liquid nature of the setting allows for placement of all sorts of interesting NPCs/subplots/MacGuffins.
2. For Tha Horde!
Great King Torg (All Hail His Name!), the first and only Kobold to ever ascend to the Throne of Bone, has failed the annual Test of Might after three hundred years of illustrious reign. Now the word has gone out across the lands of the Horde - in one year's time, the one who brings the most gold and glory with him (or her) to the Throne will be given the title of Great King, and with it the rule of the Horde until the failing of their strength. So... are you up to it?
3. War of the Unnaturals
Beholders. Mind Flayers. Aboleths. Ethergaunts. The Abberations are alien, twisted beings, of frightening intellect and unfathomable plans. One day, they might very well rule the world. That's what you're hoping, anyway. You work for one. With the death of the last dragon, your employer and his associates have a good shot at becoming the power behind the scenes in... well, most of the world. The only thing standing in their way is the other groups of abberations... thus, your mission. To perform key assassinations, outmuscle and outmaneuver other "pawn cells", secure the allegiance of unattached power groups, and occasionally run weird errands that have no visible relation to anything else your employers are doing.
4. Heir Apparant
One of the PCs (everyone rolls a d20 at character creation; low roll gets it) is actually the avowed illegitimate child of the now-deceased king. And, as he died with no other heirs, that PC is now the ruler-to-be of the kingdom. The hitch? As a bastard, with only the king's brother to vouch for him, the PC must garner the respect and support of the rulers of all four surrounding kingdoms to take the throne! No easy task, since they haven't all agreed on anything in... well, ever. But the PC is in luck! He has a bunch of old friends, relations, and mentors to help him in his task... possibly with the promise of large amounts of cash or royal favor and station when he ascends to the throne.
5. On the Society and Interpersonal Relations of the Orc
Knowledge. A goal in and of itself. But really, the fame and cash from publishing your papers helps things... a lot. For your latest gig, you've been handed a humdinger of an assignment - acclimate yourself into an orcish tribe, gain their trust, and learn their ways. Not easy... as they're intensely xenophobic, violent, and nasty. But if you're lucky, you might just get out alive! Maybe. Possibly. Hopefully.
